Painting Classes

For the new student or the seasoned artist wanting to refine and explore. Learn many techniques and tips, or build confidence to pursue a new hobby. Refine and perfect your craft while being inspired in a gorgeous setting in Sedona. 
Choose from:

• Watercolors
Deconstruct the mystery of watercolor learning several techniques

• Acrylics
Master blending and layering, one of the most challenging aspects of acrylic painting made easy.

• Pastels
Using pastel pencils and sticks

• Mixed Media A combination of 2-3 mediums


Painting Classes are approx 2 hours long. Bring your own favorite image to paint, or choose from a selection of great ideas. Create abstract or detailed realistic creations.

Mandala Mindfulness Painting Classes

A "mandala" is an abstract geometric design that often represents positive attributes like compassion, harmony, calming, and promotes focused attention, creative self-expression and self-discovery. They have been used for centuries in spiritual and personal healing practices.


Creating these can remove stress, promote present moment mindfulness and improve concentration. Many use it as a form of meditation practice. Each artist will create a unique mandala. Step-by-step guided instructions, techniques and inspiration will be given in this class. Mandala paintings are 2.5-3 hours long. Click to see more examples of mandalas I created.


Class begins with visualization and intention-setting and a brief meditation - so you can infuse your intention into the drawing. Suited for individuals, couples, friends, as well as larger groups, veterans, non-profits, mens and women's retreats, team building meetings, celebrations, reunions.

Animal Spirit Classes

A spirit animal is a spiritual guide or messenger, often from indigenous traditions, representing personal traits, strengths, and life lessons, appearing through dreams or repeated encounters to offer wisdom, protection, or guidance on one's life path, symbolizing specific qualities like a hawk's vision or a lion's courage.


  • Guides & Protectors: A spirit animal is an ally, a teacher, or protector that helps navigate life's journey, offering unique wisdom and power.
  • Personal Connection: The animal's characteristics often mirror qualities a person embodies or needs to develop, like a butterfly for transformation or an elephant for loyalty, and the connection can shift as you evolve.


Class begins with researching into animal symbolism and choosing the one that has the unique traits that resonates with you. Some examples are:

  • Lion: Courage, strength, pride, wisdom.
  • Hawk: Big-picture view, foresight, clarity.
  • Butterfly: Transformation, rebirth, change.
  • Beaver: Hard work, commitment, building. 


Using multiple mediums like watercolor, colored pencil or pastel, inks and markers to create your symbolic drawing.

2-4 participants:  $118/person

5 - 8 participants: $108/person,
9 or more participants: $98/person

All classes include all materials needed to create your piece. All levels invited.  No previous art experience needed.

Kathy, Your Instructor

Kathy has been a fine artist since she was in her teens. She became a full time graphic designer while still pursuing fine art on the side. Her experience in art is vast and she uses multiple ways to teach and inspire her students. She encourages individuality and authenticity in her students as well as playful exploration. Talent is always a plus, however she feels anyone can be a great artist with practice, the right tools, and the desire to keep learning. Even if you have never drawn before she can show you several tips to make your painting or drawing look professionally done. Her work is in several galleries in
Sedona.  She teaches art classes at the Enchantment Resort for their guests as well.

Policies

Each individual class session will focus on one medium (pastels, acrylics or watercolors) only. Payment: a 50% deposit, with the balance day of the session.  Cancellations made less than 3 weeks prior will receive a partial refund (minus cost of materials purchased for your event) Cancelations made less than 72 hours in advance will forfeit the deposit. Zelle or check preferred. (other payment methods available) Final count needed ideally 7 days prior, although we always try to accommodate additional guests.
